Obituary of Richard L. Vance

Richard "Rick" L. Vance of Landing, NJ passed away on Tuesday, June 7th. For the love of his family, Rick fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully. He was 69 years old. Rick was born on March 23, 1947 in Morristown, NJ to the late James and the late Connie (Nazzaro) Vance. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1965 where he played football. He was an executive driver for Jon Linen of American Express for 25 years. Previously with "Bobby" Russell Chairman of Crum & Forster. Rick was a longtime resident of Landing, NJ. He was a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he served as a military policeman for two tours in Vietnam. Rick was named Hometown Hero of Roxbury Twp. in 2006. Rick loved playing golf and at one time was the number three ranked amateur golfer in New Jersey. Rick also enjoyed boating, painting and drawing but most importantly, he loved spending time with his cherished family. Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Darlene (Holt-McCleary), his son, Timothy Holt, his daughters, Tammy Holt Abrusci & her husband, Vito, Jennifer Holt Marks & her husband, Robert, Erica Holt Letos & her husband, Pete. Additional survivors include his cherished grandchildren, Sean, Andrea, Alyssa, Leon, Tyler, Raegan, Chase and Livia, his sisters, Karleen Lynch and Carol Vance, his brother, James Vance, and several nieces and nephews. Rick's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday, June 9th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Catholic Blessing offered on Friday morning, June 10th at 11:00 am followed by Military Honors also at the funeral home. A cremation will be held privately.
