Obituary of Mary Theresa Takacs

Mary Theresa Takacs, 90, of Hopatcong passed away on Sunday October 23, 2016. Born in New York City on May 6, 1926 to the late Michael Christofilou and the late Kassiani Maikoussi, Mary has resided in Hopatcong for 61 years. She was a lifelong learner and teacher for the Gifted & Talented Program for Hopatcong Borough School System. Mary also served as the Environmental Commissioner for Hopatcong Borough for many years. She was a parishoner of St. Jude's Church in Hopatcong. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1980. Survivors include her beloved children, Mary Ann Cocuzza and her husband, Sal, Joseph Takacs, Christopher Takacs and his wife, Deborah, Catherine Pouliot and her husband, Don and John Peter Takacs and his wife, Ruthann, her adoring grandchildren, Dominique, Cherie, Salvatore, Roxanne, Loriana, Marie, Christopher, Alexandra, Jessica and Jacqueline and her cherished great grandchildren, Nicolette, Mick, Roman, Genarro, Josephine Rose and Noah. Mary's Life Celebration will include visiting on Friday October 28 from 4-8 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday October 29 beginning at 10:00 am at St. Jude's Church, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong, NJ. The remainder of services will be private.
