Obituary of Howard W. Hatton
Howard Willis Hatton of Hopatcong, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 22, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old. Mr. Hatton was born on July 19, 1938 in Abington, Pa. to the late Howard L. and the late Frances (Townsend) Hatton.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Violet M. Hatton, his children, Thomas Hatton (Kristin) of Blairstown, New Jersey, Donald Hatton (Kathleen) of Anchorage, Alaska, David Hatton of Orchard Lake, Michigan and Linda Hatton Rhomberg (Andreas) of Tucson, Arizona, his cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Jessica Hatton of Blairstown, Carson Hatton of Anchorage, Alaska, Izabella, Sydney and Emerson Rhomberg of Tucson, Arizona and his sister, Thelma E. Mager (Edward) of Salem, New York.
He graduated High School in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Shelton College in Ringwood, New Jersey and a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Paterson State College.
A Hopatcong resident from 1960-2018. He began his career as a Science Teacher in Allamuchy, and became a School Administrator in Sparta, followed by Hopatcong. Following his retirement from public schools, he served as the Northwest Christian School Administrator in Newton for 16 years before his final retirement in 2005. He enjoyed hiking, camping, boating and Ford Mustangs. He was a founding member of the Top of New Jersey Model Airplane Club, a Private Pilot, served on the New Jersey Marine Police and taught Sunday School at Hillside Lutheran in Succasunna where he attended Church.
Howard's Life Celebration will include visitation on Thursday, April 26th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a church service on Friday, April 27th at 10:00 am at Grace Church on the Mount, 1500-US-46 in Netcong, NJ #973-347-0667. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Friday morning. Howard will be laid to rest at the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Twp.
