Obituary of James Muirhead

James Muirhead of Blairstown, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old. Mr. Muirhead was born on June 18, 1930 in Ochiltree, Scotland to the John and the late Margaret (Burns) Muirhead. James served in the Royal Fusiliers in Scotland and he was a longtime resident of Blairstown, NJ. He enjoyed golf, soccer and working outside but most importantly, James loved spending time with his loving family. James is survived by his daughter, Fiona J. Westenberger, his cherished grandchildren, John J. & wife, Jennifer, Kevin J. and Robert M. Westenberger and his sister, Anne Faulds. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean in 2015 and his son, Lt. John Muirhead (USN) in 1981. James's Life Celebration will include visitation on Friday, February, February 8th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a funeral service on Saturday morning, February 9th at 9:30 am at the funeral home. James will be laid to rest at the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Twp., NJ.
