I met George three years ago at Fresenius Dialysis center, Kenvil, N.J. Three times a week we would spend our mornings together in the waiting room before our treatments. We would chat about almost anything but George loved talking fishing! I once called him Mr. New Jersey because he was so knowledgeable about our state! I will miss you George and our morning chats, rest in peace. My condolences to Maria and the Sly family.

Dad,
As you probably know, I am so, so sad. I will miss you very much. We had lots of great times as a family and us together. I will always remember going fishing with you on the first day of trout season in the boat and otherwise whether freezing cold or very hot. I will remember you coaching soccer, bowling and softball. Especially the All-Star game where I hit the bomb of a home run and pitching the winning game. You were so proud and talked about it all the time. I will also remember the basketball game where I scored over 20 points and every time that I got a basket, I looked over at you in the stands in amazement. You had a great big smile on your face. We had great times bowling in leagues and tournaments together, same with mom. There were so many sporting events that you and mommy were always there at cheering us on. The same with Chelsea’s softball games and even bowling. Same with Ryan and Andrew. I’ll remember working on the cars with you. Building birdhouses and so many other things. You were always there, you and mommy would come and help me at the house which you know that I really appreciated. There are so many things, I can go on and on.
We had great times on family vacations and day trips. The trip to Canada was a little scary for Jeffrey and I.
I love you and not have always shown it but I do. Thank you for being a great dad and grandpa. Don’t worry about mom, we will take good care of her, but you know that already.
Love your little girl,
Liesl

My sincere condolences to the Sly family. Having gotten to know his daughter, Liesl, as a coworker, Mr. Sly must have been a terrific father. The Sly family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Dad,
You will be missed by all those that knew you….you may have had a tough exterior, but beneath all of that we saw the caring teddy bear inside that you thought was hidden.
As I sat on my flight home, a flight I dreaded but knew would have to make one day, I closed my eyes and took a tour back from childhood through today. I opened my eyes and could and smiled looking back to all the good experiences we had together as a family.
You were a tough dad, but that pushed us to work harder, learn to appreciate things, and take responsibility.
You were a caring dad, you coached our soccer & little league/softball teams, cheered us on at bowling / band competitions & other events, spent endless hours out on the lake fishing, helped us move into new homes when starting our families, and continued to provide help (whether requested or not) through the very last conversations we had together.
You were a teaching dad, you taught me about being a dad, you taught me about owning a home & how to fix/maintain just about anything I might encounter, you taught me to think through decisions & not rush into them, and most importantly, you stressed the importance of family.
You were a proud dad, you always let us know how proud you were with our accomplishments – family, school, sports, work, just life in general…This was even more evident when a proud dad became a proud granddad.
You were a supportive dad, supporting my decisions on school, providing guidance on just about anything whether I took it or not, and being so supportive with our decision to relocate.
You were a family man, married 60 years with mom, the one person that made your life compete.
I will miss you, but our incredible memories will live on through the family. You will continue to inspire me every day!
I love you Dad!
