Obituary of George H. Sly

George H. Sly, 85, of the Landing section of Roxbury Township, passed away on Friday August 21, 2020 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover Campus. Born on January 23, 1935 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Howard and Agnes (Jock) Sly, George resided in the Port Morris section of Roxbury Township prior to moving to Landing in 1962. George worked as a Consignment Specialist for Hewlett-Packard in Rockaway. He served proudly in the United States Navy Reserves from 1952-64. George enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Maria (Scherk), a daughter, Liesl De Martini (Robert), two sons, Jeffrey (Denise) and George, Jr. (Isabel), and four grandchildren, Yolanda Sly Kozuha, Chelsea De Martini, Ryan Sly and Andrew Sly. George's Life Celebration will include visiting on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered Wednesday August 26, 2020 beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. George will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery immediately following the prayer service.
