Kent: Your dad and I were boyhood friends in Monson.
As the tallest in our group, I looked up to him in more ways than one. He was a calming influence and voice of reason, which limited our teen age transgressions.
We spent years together in Boy Scouts. He attained Eagle Scout rank first and inspired me to do the same.
Boy Scout summer camp with its youthful adventures was a major highlight of our teen age lives. Your dad was a leader among his peers even at that young age.
Sports, especially basketball, in which he was the star of the team, along with soccer and baseball were an important part of all the memorable times we shared.
Our winter weekends were often spent at an old barn with an indoor basketball court sharpening our game.
Those times playing “one on one” really bonded us. His good naturedness did not soften his competitiveness to win. You had to bring your “A” game to each encounter.
I enjoyed seeing him at our high school class reunions every five years. He never changed and was still the down to earth, decent person we knew growing up. I marveled at his warmth, sincere caring and personal interest in our lives despite the decades that had past.
I am glad you and your dad knew the joy and love that only a close relationship between father and son can bring. My deep condolences to you and all your family.
David Martin

Kent, I am very sorry for your loss. I will miss my visits with Skip. I was important enough to him, to stop by regularly. He had to go out of his way to come here, and he always brought me a coffee. I am humbled. He was something else for sure. May he live on in your memories, I am sure you have plenty of them!! ~Chuck
