Lawrence P. (Skip) Meacham, Jr. – Loving father and outdoorsman Lawrence P. (Skip) Meacham, Jr. of Byram Township died December 21, 2020 at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township. He was 76. Born on March 20, 1944 in Monson, MA. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Lillian Meacham who instilled his life-long family values and love of the outdoors. He lived in Vermont, North Carolina, Maryland, Roxbury and Flanders before moving to Byram in 2007. In his early years, Skip was an award-winning athlete in several team sports and was proud of being an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1966 and from Fairleigh Dickinson University with an MBA in 1972. He joined the Western Electric Company in 1966 as a financial auditor, advancing through various management positions within the Bell System before retiring in 1989 from Network Systems/Lucent/Nokia. After retirement, Skip pursued his many varied interests and hobbies including priceless time with his son and best friend, Kent. Together they enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, hiking in the woods, riding their Harleys, "fixing" things and hanging out in the garage enjoying a "cold one". Skip also cherished the loving companionship with his long-time partner, Penny Furman and her family; enjoying family events, Bluegrass music festivals and trips to Atlantic City. Skip was life-time member of the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association of Pennsylvania and helped run festivals for 30 years in Windgap, PA. He was also involved with the creation of the Catskill Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Upstate, NY which ran for several years. In addition to his parents, Skip was predeceased by his sister, Heather Hall, a dear nephew Barry Jurczyk and companion Penny Furman. Survivors include his son Kent, nephew Billy Jurczyk, nieces Pamela Brodeur and Tamala Browning and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Also surviving are loving extended family Kim, Carmine and Bennett Carsillo and Debbi, Alyssa and Tyler Cox. Arrangements are private and entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
