Obituary of Karen Holmberg-Colburn

Karen Holmberg-Colburn of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center after a short illness and surrounded by her loving family. She was 64 years old. Karen was born on May 29, 1959 in Clifton, NJ to Naoe Okubo and the late Howard Holmberg.

Karen was 1977 graduate of Morris Hills High School, attended Rutgers University and was a long-time resident of Hopatcong, NJ. She was a sales associate at the Christmas Tree Shop in Rockaway for many years and previous to that she was employed at Peapack-Gladstone Bank. Karen enjoyed collecting many different kinds of "knick-knacks" but most importantly she was thoughtful and sweet to her family and friends.

Karen is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Colburn, her loving mother, Naoe Okubo, her sister-in-law, Cheryl Colburn and her brothers-in-law, Randy Colburn and Richard Colburn. Additional survivors include numerous family in Japan, her cousins, Nancy Holmberg Palazzi and Peter Holmberg and several additional nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Susan Holmberg.

Karen's Life Celebration Services will include a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, August 19th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a 3:30 pm Prayer Service at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ .
