I am sorry I could not attend the memorial Hopewell Hayride show. Al was fun to perform with on the Heartlands Hayride.
I'm happy he was able to keep the show going after it ended in Sergeantsville. Earlier in 2023, Al had asked me to perform in Hopewell but unfortunately, I was not able to do so. My deepest sympathy to Marylou, Al's family and his many friends.

Al Kessel was a Man among men - strong, bright, passionate, dynamic - always looking around the corner for the next thing that would make the music, the Hayride Show, better. Music was his life and he lived just the way he wanted to right up to the very end. He will leave a big empty space in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Do not mourn him. Celebrate his life and accomplishments in the music world by going out with a few friends and listening to some live music in his memory.

I only met Al as an invited guest player at two of his final Hopewell Hayride shows. I could tell right away he was not a well organized seasoned pro performer, but also a true gentlemen. He will be missed by many and for good reason! Happy Trails to You Al Kessel!

Our dental office will miss seeing Al so much. He was our hero because he always seemed to be living his best life, and he defied his age. Our love to MaryLou, Dottie and Tom.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to play music at Al's house and the Hayride. And the always gracious Marylou made you feel at home. Memories I will always cherish.
