Mo was a legend at Lenape Valley - I was fortunate to be hired as a History Teacher and assistant football coach in 1978 when Mo served the district as Athletic Director. I'm saddened to hear of his passing for he was instrumental in my development as a young teacher/coach. Countless memories of Mo will no doubt be recalled by all those privileged to know him. I'm furthered saddened that I will be unable to attend his funeral mass but please know that Mo will always hold a special place in my heart. God Bless Mo DeMuccio - may he rest in peace.

You stood in that locker room , at Pope John High School, for the LAST Football Game ever played at Netcong High. And told us - “when you see me on the road - just call me “COACH”! You were every bit that and more. Maxie (#77) said it better than anyone could.
I once heard : If the only prayer you ever say in life is “ Thank You “- it will suffice!
“ Thank You COACH”!

I do not mourn the passing of my Coach. I am grateful that God put him in my life. You want to know if God is real look at this man’s life. He was more than just a teacher and a coach. This is what he did not how he lived. This man bought young people together for a purpose that bought meaning, hope, laughter, and love. Whether it was on a field, a court or in a classroom, friendships were forged through trials and challenges to achieve something other than wins, loses or grades. It was about learning about ourselves, can we rise above our circumstances and finish a lesson, a test, or a game. The true score or grade is reflected, by the joy in our hearts and lasting memories in our minds. My lasting memory is that big smile from ear to ear on a mountain of a man I call “Coach.”
We will not be judged by the size of our bank accounts, homes nor power, but by the number of people that we helped along the way. Jesus said it is better to give then to receive. He gave the ultimate gift of eternal salvation. Jesus has welcomed Coach home – “Well done good and faithful servant.”
God Bless you Coach,
Michael "Maxie" Basenese
