Obituary of Albert J. DiRenzo

Albert J. "Sonny" DiRenzo, 92, of Netcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at The Country Home in Parsippany, NJ.

Born in Netcong, NJ on December 12, 1931 to the late James and the late Lena (Togno) DiRenzo, Albert has been a lifelong resident. He served proudly in the United States Air Force with the 85th Bomb Squadron during the Korean War from 1951-1955, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Albert worked as a carpenter in his family construction business prior to becoming a respected and admired Building Trades Teacher at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway. Albert retired from his teaching position after 25 years of service. He was a lifetime parishioner at St. Michael RC Church in Netcong, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Netcong Hilltop Fire Co. for 60 years.

Albert was predeceased by his beloved wife; Jeanette (MacDonald) in July of 2017.

Survivors include three sons; Michael & Rosanne, Vincent & Rose and Anthony & Jackie, seven grandchildren; Ashley Zigarelli (Andrew), Alyssa Braxton (Trevor), Alyx Small (Tom), Andrew DiRenzo, Samantha DiRenzo (Erik), Abigail DiRenzo and Zachary DiRenzo, seven great grandchildren; Jacob, Eric, Robert, Edward, Delaney, Charlotte and Luca and four siblings; Anita Patterson, Larry DiRenzo, Dolores Colabella and James DiRenzo. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Albert's Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday August 5 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael RC Church in Netcong. Albert will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery immediately following Mass.
