The Measure of a Man.
""Not - "How did he die?" But - "How did he live ?" Not - "what did he gain ?" But -What did he give ?"
These are the units, to measure the worth, Of a Man, as a Man, Regardless of birth."""
By these standards - Bob was a Man.
I knew Bob for over 26 years and he was like a father, a friend and a dear brother.
To say that Bob will be missed by those who knew him would be an understatement. In his younger years, his "larger than life " presence filled the house and the hearts of those who knew him. His passing has left a vacuum in the lives of those around him - especially his beloved wife Aurelia. People who met him for the first time were, despite his teasing brashness, touched by the warmth with which he welcomed them into his life or home. He was always the ardent supporter and enabler of Aurelia in whatever was her project of the moment. Wherever they went, the local parish was always the beneficiary of his time and talent. He was there as a friend, confidant, and supporter to me and many.
He tried his hand at golf, and while no Phil Michalson, he still managed to knock some good fun out of the game in his earlier years.
Bob had strong opinions, and as we say, in his prime, "he could argue the hind leg off a donkey". He could be direct and stubborn but that was the charm of being Bob O, as I called him.
In his earlier years when he was able, he touched the hearts of many by his generousity and his big heartedness.
Dear Bob O, I'm sure that God has already welcomed you into his presence with the same love that you showed to me and to those many over the years. May you rest in peace.
Love you much, and missing you....

Bob will be missed by all who knew him, and ever so dearly by his bride of 61 years, Aurelia.
Familial hospitality with genuine interest and caring epitomized how Bob & Aurelia maintained their life long friendships. Many holidays were spent sharing great food, conversation and laughter as Bob and Aurelia opened their home and hearts to family and friends to share in their bounty and thank God for their blessings.
On the golf course Bob always was the ever so keen score keeper of strokes and of how quickly a round could be finished. His eagle eyes never lost track of his nor your shots... and when he was not golfing, but on dialysis, he was happy for Aurelia to play, interested in her score as if he was playing right along, and would let you know if to much time was spent on the 19th hole. Bob, we will miss you!

Many years ago Bob and I worked for Mother Bell. He was in Morristown and I was in Whippany. We both worked on troubles so we talked often. . He would sometimes try to give me a runaround but after I knew what he was doing I used to tell him,Bob not again.. I did like to work with him and I am sorry for his passing

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.

Uncle Bob was certainly a unique personality, as were all his brothers and sisters. No doubt he left a lasting impression on every life he touched. The most memorable and lasting for me was when his older brother, Harvey, was lost in an accident and Bob and Aurelia were the first ones there to help. It was certainly a great comfort to have a family member waiting for me at the airport, not only for consolation, but also for moral support. Guess that's why Dad picked him and Aurelia to be my Godparents. Knowing that Uncle Bob had been in less that stellar health for some time it is a testament to his fortitude(and Aunt Aurelias' care,) that he did as well as he did for as long as he did. I'm glad he is at peace. I pray for the comfort that only the Lord can give for Aunt Aurelia, and know that she can take some measure of solace knowing that Bob touched many lives, and will be remembered by all who knew him. My condolences to Aunt Aurelia, and my regrets for not being able to be there. Please know I am with you in spirit. Love, Kevin
