Obituary of Robert W. Smith

Robert W. Smith died peacefully on Monday August 8, 2011 in Wilmington, NC. He was 83. Born in Denville on June 30, 1928 to Bernard E. and Ellen D. Smith, Mr. Smith graduated from Rockaway High School and resided in Flanders for 24 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. He worked for NJ Bell Telephone for 34 years. After retirement, he moved to Desert Hot Springs, CA for 19 years and then to Hampstead, NC for the last 6 years. He did volunteer work for the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center for 5 years and the Betty Ford Children's Center for 10 years. Both organizations were in Rancho Mirage, CA. Mr. Smith was an avid golfer and achieved two hole-in-ones. Loving husband of 61 years of Aurelia (Lucatelli) Smith. Dear brother of Bernard E. Smith, Jr. Survivors also include numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
