Obituary of Rebecca Byrd Burkhart

Rebecca Byrd Burkhart of Hopatcong passed away Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover: losing her year-long battle with sarcoma cancer. She was 57. Born in Upper Darby (Delaware County) PA, she was raised in Plainfield and has lived in Hopatcong since 1981. She was employed as the children's librarian by the Verona Public Library in Verona NJ, since 1978, until her retirement in January of this year. She was affectionately known as "Mrs. B" by many of her library patrons. An active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Budd Lake, Rebecca was dedicated to the church, her library career and her family. Beloved wife of Edward R. and devoted mother of Benjamin E. and Deborah A. (both of Hopatcong).
