Obituary of John William Blomquist
John William Blomquist died Monday February 21, 2011, peacefully in his sleep, at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 75.
Born in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Blomquist has resided in Hopatcong for 39 years. He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from CUNY and his master's degree in the same field from NYU. He also earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He worked as a project manager for ADT in Parsippany before retiring in 1997 and also worked as an electrical engineer for various companies. He served in the US Army as a Specialist Second Class from 1955-1958.
Mr. Blomquist was a member of Kiwanis International during the 1970's & 80's and was a very avid reader on a wide variety of subjects including politics, history, science and many others. Other joys included taking care of the family dogs, travel, visiting museums, plays, exhibitions and he enjoyed classical music.
Devoted husband of the late Andrea (Hutton). Loving father of Karen Blomquist and Erik Blomquist and his wife Bianca. Adoring grandfather of Julian and Logan. Dear brother of the late Walter. Beloved cousin of Richard Liell. Also surviving are many additional family members and friends.
Cremation services were conducted privately. The family will receive friends and relatives for a memorial gathering on Thursday February 24 from 7-9 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing. Prayers will be offered Thursday evening at 8:30 pm at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the inurnment of cremated remains on Friday February 25 at the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Green Township, NJ (Airport & Creek Road).
