How heavy would our hearts be, Bill,
To just say goodbye to you,
To know we can't reach out in comfort,
The way you used to do.
How burdened would our hearts be.
Except for the Lord's loving touch,
That reaches out to touch us each,
That comforts our hearts, so much.
...yet we know...
The Lord will lift our hearts up high,
With the memories of you that we love,
And make light the heavy sorrow we feel,
As we release you to Him, above.
...and we hope...
Some day, our burdened hearts will smile
As we dash away a tear,
And remember the laughter, the joy and love
You brought to us while you were here,
...and we will smile...
Some day, when laughter and stories of you
Replace tender, heartfelt tears,
We will thank God for your smile and giving heart
Blessing us all our moments, each day, every year.
