Whenever John would come to our home in Pennsylvania, his warm smile and big hugs spoke to his kindness and humility. A true friend to my son. Genuine, fun-loving, sincere, compassionate...these are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking about my good friend John Blake. John was an incredible man and an even better friend. His love for life was contagious, and he had such a huge positive impact on everyone with whom he'd ever come in contact. He was selfless, and always took the time to reach out and uplift others. In his passing, it has made me want to be a better person, to be more like John Blake. John will be gravely missed, but his impact on this world cannot be denied. My deepest sympathies go out to all of John's family and friends. I feel so blessed to have had John in my life, and his memory will live on eternally. Thank you John, for everything.

We last saw John with a cast on his arm, surrounded by his old high school classmates. All in college, the group met at our house on the Saturday after thanksgiving. The girls made sure that John was well fed and comfortable and he was grinning from ear to ear. His charm and love of life made him a standout in the group. There are no words, Cynthia. John Blake is one of the most joyful forces of nature to grace us. This is a man who leaves a legacy of love first, and everything else second... he had a way of making everyone he met feel special within seconds of meeting them, no matter who they were, or what the situation was. John leaves us an amazing example to follow. I miss him dearly... as will countless others...
John was an amazing musician. On a personal note, he was the first emcee I've ever worked with when we formed our band in college - we all had some of the best of times together. Experiencing music with John was as great as can be... but I think what was paramount, was the joyful sense of community that he inspired in us, and in everyone who had the blessing of meeting him.
Please, I encourage you to enjoy John's music. Dig into his catalogue. In the studio with John, his process was quick to produce such strong and meaningful material. He left us with a lot of brilliance. I've linked it below.

John was always warm and loving, genuine and compassionate. His infectious laugh and charismatic personality were incredible attributes of his. I'm so thankful to have known him and spent time with him in the music department of Hopatcong High School. We had such wonderful times together and it's hard to believe he's gone. In all of the years I have known John Blake I do not think I ever saw him dressed in anything but all black and I think that is the way he wanted it. Actually I may have seen him in jeans once and he asked me to never mention it. I also remember getting to wear his hat a few times which from him was a huge honor. He was always full of kind words, positive energy, great advice, and had the best laugh. His friendship and kindness will not be forgotten. To the Blake family,
My deepest condolences. The world lost a tremendous man. I am very happy to say that your son was my friend. Your son was remarkable. It didn't matter the situation, he always brightened up everyone's day. He was the most positive person that I have ever met. Every time that I hung out with John, he would always tell one particular story about the small town I am from. This story brought smiles and laughs from all. I'll never forget that. I used to alway run into john when he worked for enterprise. I used to joke with him calling him Clark Kent aka john Blake. Seeing him in a suit and tie I'm stead of all black and a fitted i definitely did a dbl take every time . John Blake was an awesome guy. Was so kind to me when he first met me. I was on crutches and needed help getting off stage ( I was still performing as an MC on crutches lol) he just walked right over and helped me down.
