Obituary of Joseph Perfetti

Joseph Perfetti, of Port Morris, passed away on Wednesday March 19 at home. He was 92. Joe was born, raised and resided in the Port Morris section of Roxbury Township all his life. He worked as a powder man at Hercules Powder Plant in Roxbury during WWII. He purchased a grocery store in the late 1940's that he named "Joe's Market", which he owned and operated for 35 years. Joe also drove a school bus for Martocchi and Roxbury Township Board of Education where he retired as a custodian after serving for 26 years. Joe served on the Roxbury Board of Education for 18 years and was credited with bringing the Recreation Committee to the Township of Roxbury; a committee which he served on for over 50 years, 25 of those years as commissioner. Joe was past president and treasurer of Roxbury Fire Co. #2 with a total of 60 years of service to the department. Devoted husband of his late wife, Claire (2009), loving father of Elaine Morrow and husband, Matthew, Joseph and wife, Amy and Anthony and wife, Kim, Cherished grandfather of Nikki, Lisa, Joseph, Andrew, Anthony, Brittany, Brianna and Noel, adoring great grandfather of Dylan, William and Autumn and brother of Dominick and wife, Julie, Leonard and wife, Dorothy and recently deceased sister Fil. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joe's Life Celebration on Friday March 21 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing. A Fireman's service will be offered on Friday evening at 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A Christian Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday March 22 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 75 Church Street, Franklin, NJ. Family and friends may begin gathering at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 am Saturday. Cremation will be private.
