I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Scott - mainly just a few days around the holidays over the past 5 years or so. And I can't say I ever had any "heart-to-hearts" with him. But I know the sadness I am feeling now that he's gone. And I saw the number of people who came to say goodbye to him, who were there to support his family. And through these things I can see the way he touched so many lives, the love he gave to so many people. It is through this love that he will live on forever in each of us. I am so very sorry for the loss of such a good man.

Having been one of Scott's coaches for many years you should know that Scott was always one of the best players on our teams but never acted like he was. He played his best every day which was just normal to him.
Some people you don't forget. Scott Mayer is one of them.
Our deepest condolences to the Mayer family.

Colleen, Jake and Jenna, Words cannot express our deep sorrow over your loss. Scott was such a generous person. Courtney (nor any of us) will ever forget him. Whether on the parents' sideline with his cap and giant headphones on, or on the coaches sidelines shouting instructions, he always had each child's best interest and the team's interests at heart. And he never treated Courtney less just for being the girl on a boy's team. He championed for her place on the squad and made sure she was always welcome as a Spider. He helped her be the best she could be. For that, we are ever grateful.
May Jesus wrap His arms around you in these days and months ahead that you will be comforted knowing that you are in Good Hands.

Scott, you left such a lasting impression and so, so many wonderful memories on our family that you could never be forgotten. You will live on in our hearts for as long as we shall live. You had more of an impact on the kids than you could know from taking the boys to their first Major League Baseball game (of course, "The Mets"), to just spending a Saturday afternoon playing ball, and who could forget all the years of coaching them in soccer. That hat really took a beating but the kids were always treated like part of your family. For that and many other fond memories, I thank you and will miss you greatly. Colleen, Jake, and Jenna: Words cannot take away the pain or soften the loss that you all are feeling but we hope in some small way that just knowing that we care so deeply will give you all some comfort. Just remember to ask for help when you need it. No deed is too great or hour is too late. We are all here for you! All of our love and prayers, Charlotte, Jacob, Joshua, and Sarah.

You all have indeed become such and incredible part of our family. Since 1987, when i first met Scott at Novartis, he has always been such an inspirational, exceptional, giving and loving man. He then touched Cole's life in 1st. grade as his travel soccer coach and later in both baseball and basketball. Both you Colleen, and Scott have become like an "Aunt and Uncle" to our 3 boys and we will forever be grateful for that. Although he is now no longer here with you, know that he is and always will be guiding you from above...all you have to do is simply look up and he will see you and hear you forever.
