Obituary of Bruce M. Gallo

Bruce M. Gallo, 59 of Sparta, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gallo was first and foremost, a New Jersey Licensed Professional Engineer since 1983, a 1977 Mechanical Engineering graduate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a 1973 graduate of St Joseph's Regional High School in Montvale NJ. Over the course of his 37 year career, he worked for the Carrier Transicold Division of Carrier Corp as a Service Engineer for their tractor mounted refrigeration units. He provided manufacture's troubleshooting support for dealers and owner/operator. He then moved to Virginia Beach to work at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. There he worked on the Aircraft Carrier, USS JOHN F KENNEDY, overhauling the carrier's aircraft Catapult and Arresting Gear systems. In 1979, he moved back to NJ to work for Dynapac, a heavy construction equipment manufacturer, where he designed their compact Dynamic Compactor used to for compacting soils in narrow trenches. In 1986, he began inventing and patenting many products, most notably, the telephone tangle preventer, Twisstop. In 1990, there was a great need for licensed Professional Engineers to oversee environmental cleanups in NJ. He then began his 24 year career cleaning NJ, one job at a time. Mr. Gallo is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Sharon (Nielsen), daughter Caitlin and her husband Andrew Magargee of Milton Mills, NH, and sons Phillip and Nicholas, of Sparta. He also survived by his mother, Therese (Gallagher) of Sparta, sister Debi of Hamilton, and grandson, Patrick Magargee. He is predeceased by his father, Julius Gallo and sister Dawn Gallo. A celebration of his life will be held at the family home in Sparta on Saturday October 18 from 1 pm to 4pm. All are welcome to attend.
