How could I leave a note without the name Doc gave me? I have too much to write to say all of my thoughts of him. I first worked with him over 30 years ago in 1977 at Rockaway Animal Clinic.
It was surely a pleasure and a priviledge to have known him and enjoyed his unique personality. I am truly thankful for all of that.
All my best to Pixie, Johanna, Jeff and Jack.

Country Lakes was my first job, and Doctor Watkinson was a great man to have as a boss. I'm extremely saddened to hear about his passing. During my four years at the clinic, Doc really taught me a lot of life lessons. Whether it was working with the animals or doing landscaping work, Doc always had a great sense of humor and helped me learn from mistakes I made. I'll definitely miss all of his funny stories. He was a great boss, mentor, and friend. To Jo, Jack, Jeff, and Pixie, you have my deepest sympathy and will be in my prayers.

Our condolences to the family of Dr. Watkinson. He was our vet many years ago and truly understood how important and loved our pet was to us and guided us through that pet's last weeks. The world is now missing a very special person but heaven has obtained another angel.

Dear Pixie: I just heard the sad news about Doc and your loss. My heart aches for you and your family. It has been a long time since I've seen you, but the fond memories of the past are never far away. Whether I am banging nails or pouring cement around my house or tending to the latest crisis with one of my pets, I think about Doc, you and all of us during the "early days" of Country Lakes Animal Clinic. Few people could have had so much fun learning so much in such a short period of time. I like to tell folks that when I was in college I worked as a vet technician that helped build a clinic - literally. Doc's love of hard work and hard play made every minute interesting. I can't ever remember being bored around Doc, or you. And if I think about all the times I've laughed, some of the "laugh until your sides ache" would have been with you and Doc.
As a college professor I have the burden of grading the performance of others. I remember the grades I used to get from Doc - a lot of B+ or worse - but I did get an overall A on my last day working for Doc years ago (probably because I was leaving and there wasn't anything left for me to break). That may be the most important grade I have ever received.
I know I can not craft words to take away the pain or sense of loss; but I hope you have many fond memories that helps console your fallen spirit. I do. And that's because of the positive impact Doc and you had on my life and the lives you've both touched. Please share my sincerest regrets with Johanna, Jeff, Jack and all of your family. You are and always will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolscenses to the family. Dr.
Watkinson will be dearly missed. He cared for our animals for over 20 years. He was one of the most gentle people I have ever seen when it came to animals. They recognized his love and responded positively. I will always remember his gentle smile and caring ways. I know he will be dearly missed by his loyal staff. He is now reunited with all of his precious animals, the cats purring and the dogs wagging their tails.

We've been fortunate enough to have been blessed with Dr. Watkinson for the last 20 years as our vet. He's cared for many of our family's pets, most lovingly, over that time. Know, that he did make a difference in many lives - both of pets and their owners. He will be greatly missed. We hope all the well wishes of family, friends and the legacy of pet owners bring some solace during this difficult time.

To the Watkinson Family....please know so many of us share your sorrow. Two months ago, Doc helped "us" say goodbye to our Spooky at 15 1/2 and years ago our Irish Setter Shannon, also 15. Doc's compassion, caring and knowledge of "when it's time to say goodbye" are etched memories in our heart. I picture Doc walking in a wonderous meadow with all his dogs, cats and other animals running and playing carefree at his side. Until we all meet again Doc.....Thank You and God Bless. One of the hardest parts of our moving to Florida 5 years ago was knowing that Doc would no longer be in charge of our dear Tabby. Doc had been a friend to our family since 1979 when he began caring for Delilah, our Schnouzer, which he did lovingly and very capably for 18 years. In the meantime, we were adopted by Sylvester, a cat who Doc named, and eventually by Tab in 2000. Throughout these decades, Doc impressed us with his love for animals, his skill as a physician, and his gentle manner. He endeared himself to our whole family and we are so very sorry that he has been taken so early. We send our deepest condolescences to Doc's family as well as to the loyal capable staff who followed him faithfully.
Laurel and Ken Freund, Jeff, Scott and Ethan Cooper
