Obituary of Louis P Barbato

Louis Paul Barbato, Jr. of Port Morris passed away Sunday January 12, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover. He was 74. Born in Dover, he lived in Netcong prior to moving to Port Morris 52 years ago. Louis served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1961. Prior to his retirement he was Chief of Police with the Netcong Police Department. Louis enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding and trips to casinos. Beloved husband of the late Theresa J. (nee: D'Auria). Devoted father of Louis P. III and his wife Phyllis, Vince and his wife Connie and John M. and his wife Jamie. Dear brother of Nick and John Barbato, Marie Rea, Jean Carole, Loretta Noone and Pat Grogan. Cherished grandfather/great grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Louis's Life Celebration on Wednesday January 15 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Prayer Service will be offered at 10:00AM on Thursday January 16th at the funeral home with interment to follow in the Stanhope Union Cemetery, Mt. Olive Twp. Family and friends may begin gathering Thursday morning at 9:00 am prior to the prayer service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of a person's choice.
