I have been away for about forty five years, but I have never forgotten the kindness you and your family showed me and my mother bunny when she became a widow in 1963. MelvinSr. helped her keep her car going, I remember him coming all the way down to the shore to help her, thank you. I am so sorry to have come across this sad news while just looking for something familiar from my childhood neighborhood. I live in Minnesota,have been married to Mark for 26 years. we have two sons and one grandaughter. I will always remember Melvin jr. taking time to talk to me when I was playing with Jill and her duck. Frank and Ines liebelt were my grandparents.

When I Must Leave You
"When I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name
Live on and do all things the same,
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour in useful ways,
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you And hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!"

My sympathies to all. I know he'll be missed.

We were informed about Mel's passing by another '63 Grad, John Andenes. I can only remember a few names that were at our 25th Anniv. in '91. So, it's very possible we've not seen each other since we graduated in '63. But I can tell you as so as I saw his name in John's E-mail I pictured his face right away and started recalling him in my mind and I remember a happy, great smile, friendly and just an all around wonderful guy! I am sure his family loves & will miss him very much!
Living outside of Chicago, Illiniois, does not allow me to be there physically but my thoughts are with Mel & his family.
Our condolences,
Tom & Sandi

You don't know me but my mother Peggy King (Stroud) used to date Mel when they were very young. She got married to Wayne Wilson of Rockaway. She used to tell us about Mel and how much he meant to her. Even though you don't know me or my family I did want you to know that she is very upset and wishes you the bes of luck with getting through this time.

I remember Mel from our Friday bowling league, along with Mark and Michele. We had fun talking about fishing trips. He will be sorely missed. He has left this world far too soon.

Mark and Lucille and family,
My heart is broken for you. I have recently lost both my parents. I do know the pain and emptiness you are suffering. Time dulls but never erases it.
There are no words that can comfort you but know that your friends, and their families too, are praying for you.
