Obituary of Joseph Del Vecchio

Joseph "Joe Del" Del Vecchio died Wednesday September 26, 2007 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's in Dover. He was 84 years old. Born in Netcong, Joe resided there for 81 years prior to moving to Mt. Arlington three years ago. He retired from his job as Dairy Manager from the A&P Tea Co. after working in several of their Morris County locations for 36 years. After his retirement from A&P, Joe worked as a groundskeeper at Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope for over 20 years. Joe served in the US Army during WWII from 1943-45. He was a member of the Netcong Fire Department and of their Exempt Fireman's Association, the Assumption Society of Netcong, the Netcong VFW post; he served on the board of trustees of Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township and also served on the board of the Netcong Water Department. Joe also volunteered his time as a coach for Babe Ruth and Little League baseball. Loving husband of Janet (Soricelli). Beloved father of Scott and his wife, Connie of Netcong, Janet (Missy) of Mt. Arlington and Jeri of Mt. Arlington. Adoring grandfather of Jenna. Dear brother of Andrew of Netcong, Evelyn of Budd Lake, Philomena of Newton, the late Michael, the late Agolino, the late Rose Hartdorn and the late Vera Licciardello.
