This would be true for any stage you were ever on. You were the star. I only now found out that you left this world from Darlene Love. I hope that our paths will cross in heaven or SOMEwhere! I haven't been in touch for a long time. But, I heard about Patti and I wanted to write. I am so sorry for your loss. She was such a talented, beautiful girl. I remember your home as such a warm inviting place. I was a kid too, back then, just in my early 20's when I was the Band Director in West Orange. I have fond memories of being around Kenny and his family.
Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and wishing you well. A soul as bright and shiny as Patti lives on and on.

Hopi Prayer
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
To Courtney and Family,
I thought of this prayer the day I heard that Patti had pass. It helped me get through the loss of my young nephew and I hope it does the same for all of you. Patti is truly loved, her gifts to the world and us were more than humor and songs. For me she was one of my big sisters. We laughed, played, fought, and prayed together. We shared so many years doing what family does best getting to know and understand how and why we fit. It was a blessing working with the talent at Smokey Joe's Cafe on and behind the stage. To the family I thank you for sharing her with me for all these years. May your cup always runneth over. Celebrate her life and listen to our angel when the wind blows.
With all my love Deedee

I work at Capri Institute - the cosmetology school Patti attended. I was very upset to hear of her death and have not been able to write until now. Some memories . . . I remember when Patti first came into the school. I immediately felt that she was a very special person. She spoke to me at length about how she wanted to go back to being a hairstylist since Cher was winding down and this was something she had enjoyed in the past. A few months later she again walked in to begin the enrollment process. She started the course and within a few weeks got word that Cher was going back out on tour. She took a leave of absence; exhausted her leave and then came back a few months later to re-enroll. She was determined! And she went on to complete the course. Her graduation ceremony was memorable. Her senior instructor and I rewrote the words to Frank Sinatra's "My Way". Patti loved it and sang us a song. She encouraged the students to be in school and complete the course and never let their license lapse. Patti was an excellent student. very motivated. She always had a positive attitude. She was very helpful to her fellow students and an inspiration.
I remember Patti getting me tickets to see Cher and her perform in a hotel in Atlantic City and not being able to attend.
I remember we had a fundraiser for breast cancer research when Patti was in school. Patti and her brother sang at a club and raised a considerable amount of money.
I remember Patti telling me how she cradled her dying dog in her arms as the tears streamed down my face.
Patti touched a lot of people. She made a difference to so many. The evidence is here. My sympathies to her husband, family, friends, co-workers, clients and fans.

Dear Courtney:
I tried to obtain your home address and/or phone number from the funeral palor but they would not let me have it.
My name is Pat Igoe. Patty and I were childhood friends in Orange. As soon as I heard about Patty I wrote to Patty's mother and I have sent a note to all her siblings.
I cannot express how sad I felt to hear about Patty. I was one of the very first to notice Patty's singing and acting abilities. We were only about 6 or 7 when we met. Her mom had taken us to see the Sound of Music at the drive-in theatre in Livingston, N.J. with a bunch of kids.
Being one of six kids and because my parents were very poor this was a real thrill for me. Shortly after Patty's dad built a stage in the backyard of the house they lived in on High St., Orange. Patty began performing.to everyone who would listen.
As a young girl I knew Patty was going far with her abilities. Unfortunately her family moved to West Orange a few years later and we lost touch. Then my family moved to Rockaway, N>J. and llife went on.
As you have haerd from many people, we are lost knowing that Patty has died. She had I are the same age. It would be nice to hear from you; just so I know you got this note.
I will never forget Patty, ever. She touched my heart in a very special way with memories that have remained this far. If what she meant to me has lasted at least 45 years or so no doubt she is my lifetime friend. I pray someday St. Peter has her at that Golden Gate as I come in.
With Love, Pat Igoe Bluemel

Patty and I dated in High School and for several years afterward. We got to know each other in and around the music scene that was flourishing back then in Montclair, NJ. Because of the musical exposure that she received from her Aunt, Patty loved Broadway musicals and would spontaneously belt out performances of "Oklahoma" or "My Fair Lady" in the middle of the parking lot at Bond's Ice Cream Shop. She consistently told us that her goal was to make it to Broadway...and lo and behold...she did! I suppose it was just a matter of time. A smile would come to my face everytime I'd pass a "Smokey Joe's" billboard with her picture, among the cast, prominantly displayed. Through the years, I lost touch with Patty but managed to track her career from afar. I remain to this day, incredibly proud of her. Her voice and her personality made her a real standout. But she conducted herself with compassion, humor, sweetness, and style. ...she was truly a great inspiration for all of us. My deepest condolences to Courtney, Helen, Kenny, Gene, Kimmy, et al and to her Aunts who had so much to do with forming Patty's musical aspirations. She will forever be in our hearts but dearly missed.

Courtney and family,
We were deeply saddened to hear the news of Patties passing. She was so kind to my son Cole and he has wonderful memories of the garden that he planted with Pattie and her neighbor Alex one summer. She took the time to make the kids feel special and they loved her. I will always remember her funny stories about life on the road in the music business and her insight to life in general. I will mostly remember that Pattie once said that we are all living the "dash" And for those of you who know what that means, she most definitely lived the dash to the fullest!

After watching the Farewell Tour DVD, it was the most amazing thing in the world for me to have the opportunity to see the show live twice. Patty was a part of that. She was just as lively and absolutely wonderful on stage as on the TV screen. What always sticks in my mind is Patty, along with Stacy, keeping us charged up while Cher changed clothes after singing "Turn Back Time", and of course, dancing along with Cher during "The Shoop Shoop Song". Yes, Patty was a vital part of The Farewell-Can't Say Goodbye Tour, and she will be missed always. I pray the Darcy-Jones family will be strengthened and comforted by the love of Almighty God the Father because losing a loved one is never easy and we can't understand why. But as I said when my Grandmother passed away-"God needed another beautiful angel!" She is home now with the Father, surrounded by love and goodness, and surly singing her heart out!!! Be Blessed!

Pattie: Are you any good?
Chelsey: Well, I'm a tonal singer, I'm not dynamic, like you.
Pattie: That's not what you're supposed to say... You're supposed to say, "Yeah, I'm good!"
Pattie: You're not tearing up on me, are ya?
Chelsey: No, it's just my eyeliner... I don't usually wear make-up.
Pattie: Then, why are you wearing it now?
Chelsey: I wanted to look nice for you!
Pattie: *laughs* Well, you look very nice.
If only I could be like you
If only I could make it through
Put a smile on my face
As I fall from grace
There'd be nothing left to do
I'd end up just like you
But were you really all that happy?
Or did you shove pain deep inside?
Regardless of your circumstance
It's been one Helluva ride
You taught me to take pride
In shared abilities and goals
A life truly blessed
To be admired by lost souls
The only constant in my life
From the age of fourteen
A loyal, honest friend
To boost my self-esteem
I read you like a book
Before we'd even met
Our connection strengthened
By the time it takes dye to set
Though neither of us knew it
Your time was running out
This little girl from Canada
Heartbroken without a doubt

I don't know if you remember us but we met you and Patty at the St. Pat's party at Lake Mo. earlier this year. We went to school with Patty back in W. Orange and I dated her for a while.
We were away on vacation and have just learned of this terrible loss. We were looking forward to seeing you and Patty again and catching up on 40 years of lost time.
We are devastated and heartbroken over this, but especially myself since she contributed so much to my own musical aspirations.
At our church in Franklin, there will be a time capsule laid today (June 24) to be opened in 50 years. In it will be book of poems that I have written. One will have an additonal note in memory of Patty Darcy-Jones.
We wish you strength.

To Courtney and Patti's Family,
I do not know how to begin. Patti taught me so many things... the biggest was to have self-confidence, believe me it was tough on her because I had none. I guess we met when we were 20, when Looking Glass was on part 2, Patti, Darlene and I were sisters. We were the "Rock & Roll Widows". In the scheme of things we were just children. I can remember sitting in Patti's parent's kitchen one hot summer night, and begging her to sing "You Light Up My Life", she was like "Lol forget about it" but I think that I whined enough that she sang it. I know it sounds trivial to some, but she taught me how to do my hair, wear make up, and stand tall. I have always loved to sing myself, and she tolerated every time I did. We wore out the "Rumours" album, in fact one day Darlene hid it on us...... Then going from those days all the way up to when I had my son and I would visit, Patti would get out all the pots and pans and let him bang away..... And the wedding video, when everyone was singing, she would say "Lol that is you singing, and I would say no that is not me, yes Lol it is....... Patti would never speak an unkind word... I am sorry I am rambling but there were so many things we shared, we grew up together... I will never forget all the road trips we took, driving 8 hours to Buffalo in Darlene's big car to spend the night to see the guys play..... I have great faith in God which I believe really came to me after losing my grandparents, parents and my nephew..... I believe a soul never dies, and it has been proven time and time again..... I remember when Patti was so upset when Vickie Sue Robinson died, this morning when I was talking to Patti I said you are now with Vickie Sue, your father, and my family...... I will not go on any longer, I have taken up enough time now, I will pray that the strength will come back in your bodies, what wonderful people you are........ Love, Lol

We are fans from San Antonio, Texas. We first met Patti many years ago when she was in "Leader of the Pack." Over the years, we followed her career and saw her in "Beehive" many times. During our many visits to New York, she would take time out to personally visit with us, have a cup of coffee, and treat us like friends. We saw her in "Smokey Joe's Cafe," and after the show, we met and I showed her the many photos we had taken of her over the years. We laughed during this great reunion, and I took some pictures of her. She duplicated a pose of the very first picture I had ever taken of her.
Our friend, Annie Golden, secured tickets for us to "David Letterman Christmas Show" in 2005. Although we got to see her performance, unfortunately we did not get to meet her at this time.
We are fans who visit New York 2-3 times a year primarily to see shows. We are so happy that our paths crossed so many times with her over the past 22 years...she was always gracious, kind, and considerate.
We truly feel your loss and we send our deepest sympathy to all her loved ones. At the same time, we celebrate her life and the wonderful contributions she made to the World of Show Business.
Many God bless her beautiful soul...
With great sympathy and with joy for the life she spent with us...

About 8 months ago, she gave me a movie to watch . It was called "The 5 People You Meet In Heaven" ... I really loved it but ironically forgot to return it to her. I will watch it again. But this time I will really think about what her message was to me, back then.

Jim, Alex and I are devastated, as I know everyone who knew Pattie is. I
have been sitting here all week stareing into space in disbelief unable to
express my grief and shock. I loved Pattie so much and we had a special bond being across the street from her and Courtney for so many years. I have so so many great memories with her. We shared so much and kept in touch often even after our move 1272 miles away. Please know that my entire family is praying for her and your family. I am very grateful that I had so much time with her while she was on this earth. She was so much more to me, Jim and Alex than her accomplishments, which were many. She was my best friend and buddy and had an amazing light that surrounded her in life. She was also incredibly beautiful, deep and complicated. This world will miss her so much. You can rest assured that she is in heaven singing with the angels in one of the lead positions. I will see you in my flying dreams "My Friend, My Neighbor".

I met Patti about 8 years ago at a restaurant and club in Hopatcong and she was singing...she sounded like an angel to me I went up to her to introduce myself and just to tell her that I loved her voice. My daughter Lauren was 12 at the time (she is 18 now)and with me and I told Patti that Lauren loved to sing, well she encouraged my daughter to sing that night...She sang to a standing ovation that night and I signed Lauren up for voice lessons that week! Lauren went for several lessons when Patti told us she was going on tour with Cher.....She gave my daughter to the courage to perform in front of people from this beautiful and truly wonderful person. Patti Lauren and I will never forget the short time that we had known....Love and kisses to you heaven!

....just sharing some good memories with Peppermint Patty.
At one of our Cher end of tour party's I was in charge of creating the "Cher look a likes" for a contest.
I was desperate for a "LaVerne", with truck drivers dressed as Cher it was pretty tough competition, just as I thought all hope was lost Patty (with no thought of her own dignity) came to my rescue and did an amazing real life Laverne.
It made the competition, Patty was the only real girl on the stage!
She was always willing to help out.
A great supporter of "The Love Lounge" we shared a bus, some cocktails, and a lot of conversation on tour.
Thank You Patty!
Much love,
Tony

I feel very fortunate to have met her and, although our oppportunities for conversations were few, they were always worth remembering. Her sincerity and spirituality were very much admired and her talent was inspiring. She was one of those people that touched you and had impact on those around her. I tried to never miss a chance to hear her sing and it is a true loss that we will not have that opportunity again.
If there's any comfort in this, it's knowing how many people admired and liked her and how much joy she conveyed to those she came in contact with.
